Last night we had the pleasure of touring a local haunted house, Haunted Web of Horrors, here in Memphis. We have visited this haunt years previous and have never left disappointed. So, I was excited to be given the opportunity to see and share what new additions this must-see haunt had to offer. This attraction is located at 2665 S. Perkins Road. You can find more details on hours and pricing by following the link at the bottom of the page.
We arrived around 8pm and easily found parking in the large available lot. There is a huge tanker truck with a giant “haunted house” sign that makes the entrance almost impossible to miss from Perkins Road. The parking lot is well lit with security officers readily available. It was quickly obvious that Haunted Web considers the safety of everyone involved a top priority. Tip: Don’t forget to leave your bags and purses at home or in your vehicle as they are not allowed inside this haunt. There are security officers at the front entrance that will screen you before entry to ensure you are not carrying anything that shouldn’t enter the building. The haunt is housed in a large warehouse with plenty of room for everyone. Once we entered the building, there was one last security checkpoint complete with metal detectors and security officers with wands. This made us feel extremely safe as this ensured no weapons were carried into the attraction. The security officers were very efficient, and the entire security screening process only took a few seconds.
Once we passed security, there were several different lines for VIP passes, online ticket pick-up, and ticket purchasing. There was an attendant available at each end of the lines to assist anyone who was unsure of which line to choose and to ensure prompt service at appropriate ticketing windows. All of the many available attendants made the ticketing process quick and easy for everyone. Once we had our tickets, we were directed over to the attraction lines. On our way, we noticed Haunted Web has added a concession stand that offers many very affordable snacks. We didn’t take advantage of the concessions this time but will definitely consider it when visiting in the future. There are 5 haunted houses inside this attraction that are broken into two line options when beginning this haunted experience. You can choose to start with “Tormented” or “Dark Matter”. “Tormented” is comprised of the first 4 haunted houses, Dr Hackers Asylum, Forest of Fear, Hillbilly Shack, & Slaughter House. “Dark Matter” is the black light 3-D haunted house offered. All are no-touching haunts. In other words, the actors will not touch you, and you are not allowed to touch the actors.
We chose to start with “Tormented”. It wasn’t super crowded when we got in line, but shortly after we noticed the line was steadily growing behind us, and I was thankful we arrived when we did. Even though we had to wait to enter the haunt, we were entertained the entire time by horror characters interacting with us and other patrons. They even offer trivia and funny Haunted Web actor videos and blooper reels on the big screen TV’s mounted in the waiting areas. Understandably, limited photography was allowed outside the attraction and none at the entrance or within the attraction itself. This maintains the surprise element for everyone. Once we reached the front of the line, there was an attendant reminding everyone of the rules and ensuring proper space between groups. I was thankful for this space consideration because here’s nothing worse than crowded shuffling and pushing through a haunted house!
Once you complete one of the two attraction categories (“Tormented” or “Dark Matter”), the exit places you back in the common area where you can enter the line for the other attraction. There are attendants at the ends of the haunts to make sure you are led in the right direction and don’t become too disoriented after being scared senseless. I was consistently impressed by Haunted Web’s organization and availability of staff throughout the attraction. Each staff member we encountered was friendly and eager to help make our experience the best possible.
We have been to many haunts across the country, and I can safely say Haunted Web is one of my top favorites. The haunt is the perfect length to be properly staffed with live actors while also maintaining patron attention and scare factor. Their haunts also provide an ample variety of horror across many genres including gore and sci-fi. I love that throughout the 5 different haunted houses provided, the scares are never predictable or repetitive. Haunted Web changes and updates their scare zones each year to ensure the themes remain relevant and original. Many haunted houses have come and gone throughout Memphis, but in my opinion, Haunted Web of Horror is the best in town! I look forward to revisiting this haunt for years to come!
